If you don’t see the specific rock climbing course you are looking for or if the listed course dates don’t fit your schedule, let us organize private instruction for you. Any topics can be taught from the basics to multi-pitch systems.
Our Private Rock Instruction lets you design your own climbing adventure. Whether it is single pitch classics or multi-pitch routes on the Grand Wall – we can help you reach your goal. Please either book using the calendar above or contact us for some specific dates.
Whistler:
Meet your guide at either 8:00am or 1:30pm at the Mountain Skills Academy Office in Marketplace. We are located on the 1st floor of the building (above Dominos)
Squamish:
Meet your guide at 8:00am or 1:30pm at the Squamish Adventure Centre.
At the meeting location you will meet your guide for the day, sign waiver, grab all your climbing gear and discuss the outlook for the day.
Next you will either drive or walk to the climbing area and enjoy your day of climbing!
Instructor provides group equipment:
- Ropes
- Anchor building equipment
Individual Equipment:
- Rock climbing shoes
- Harness
- Helmet
- Belay device (with 1 locking carabiner)
- Prusik 1.5-1.7m, 7mm
- Anchor building equipment (2 locking carabiners, 2 non-locking carabiners & 120cm or 240cm sling)
- Chalk bag
The above gear can be purchased from MEC, Climb On (37873 Cleveland Ave, Squamish) or Escape Route (40222 Glenalder Pl, Squamish).
Clothing (Plan ahead, check the weather forecast, and dress accordingly):
- Climbing pants (light pants that allow maximum mobility)
- T-shirt
- Mid layer fleece or wool top
- Weatherproof shell jacket
- Down or synthetic insulating “puffy” jacket
- Warm hat
- Light gloves
- Sunglasses and sunscreen
- Approach shoes
- Daypack 25-35L
If you do not have your own climbing equipment please contact us to arrange to borrow helmets, harness or climbing shoes.
It is beneficial to practice using your own equipment under the supervision of a professional.
